I have made the top and blogged it here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com/2011/08/finch-fantastic.html The shorts are just gorgeous. I made them and blogged the construction here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com/2011/08/finch-goes-formal.html

I really like the stylishness of this pair and found that each piece had some distinctive details that made them fun to sew and yielded a garment that looks very different from anything I've seen elsewhere. Both came together pretty easily, especially the top. I will make them in a rainbow of colors next summer.
The top opens on one side, giving you a nice spot to put a special button, felt flower, or other accent: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hemoglobinhummingbird/6155705025/
I also liked that it's fully lined, and the racerback shape makes the reverse just as nice as the front.
The shorts, with their pleats and tabs, also give you plenty of space to feature something special -- I look forward to adding a bit of embroidery next time. These would be easy to dress up in wool, or make a more casual, summery pair in linen: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hemoglobinhummingbird/6208574582/
